Audiovisual Narrative provides an intensive exploration of the power of the moving image from the development of film narration to current practices in the digital age. It offers an epistemological approach for the construction of audiovisual narratives and explore new emerging audiovisual formats in the digital age in response to the current atmosphere of media convergence. The layout reflects this point of departure.
The purpose of the first three chapters is to identify theoretical pressure points on narratology applied to the audiovisual communication. The following sections are devoted to the important role of cinema by analysing the impact and power of the moving image in the renovation of storytelling from the beginning of the XXth century to postmodern practices. In response to the current atmosphere of media convergence, we also explore new emerging audiovisual forms in television, advertising and Internet. The final section defines the key aspects of new narratives in the digital age.
